linking our communities - uniendo nuestras comunidades

"Colaborando en Español" seeks to create a bridge between Spanish speaking families in Nevada County and the wider community. Our members come from many different local agencies. We see newly arriving families as an asset to the community and we try to understand the tremendous challenges they face in overcoming linguistic and cultural barriers. We hold bilingual meetings where everyone is welcome so that we can continue to be aware of the needs of new families, and to assure that language differences do not limit the good relationship between the county and newly arriving immigrants.

Our book has been made possible by the generous support of the First 5 Commission of Nevada County ( www.first5nevco.org ), and the tremendous support we have received from our wonderful business community, whose various names appear at the bottom of the pages. We are immensely grateful to each and every one of them. Contact information for each of these businesses can be found on pages 5-7 of the cookbook.

All net proceeds from the book will be used within the Hispanic community to address needs such as language classes, adult literacy, nutritional information, and enhancement of cross-cultural understanding.
